Our next meeting will be Monday 16th September 2019 3.15pm-4.15pm
In our Coffee Shop

All About Hedgehogs

Join our meeting group in store, designed for anyone and everyone! It's a monthly get together with a different topic each time.

Linda is returning to join us in September! Her previous Hedgehog talk in April was incredibly well received, so she has agreed to come back to talk to our Friends of PGC again in September!

Linda Squires founded Hedgehog Care and Rehab - Plymouth PL5 in 2008, after learning that the hedgehogs in Britain were on the Red Endangered list. Talks are a wonderful opportunity to share the dos and don'ts that will help hedgehogs have a future in Britain, including the importance of keeping gaps through fences and walls so that the can find mates and successfully forage. This talk will give lots of ideas on hedgehog friendly gardening, the dangers that hedgehogs come across, and how they can be avoided. Also, Linda will teach you how to encourage hedgehogs passing through the garden to return, and where to place hedgehog boxes to increase their successful use by passing and nesting hedgehogs. There will be information on how to recognise a healthy hedgehog, and know that it mustn't be touched or moved. There will also be advice on what is evidence of a sick or injured hedgehog, and how to rescue one and who to contact - including the British Hedgehog Preservation Society on 01584 890801.
